Walter D. "Tony" Martin

Mr. Walter D.  “Tony” Martin Jr., age 80, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at his residence in Mooresville. Tony was born June 3, 1942 to Walter and Ester Pinnix Martin.

Tony was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of  the United State Army.  He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and, therefore, an avid NC State fan.  He enjoyed bluegrass music, traveling the world, camping and the outdoors.  He was an original Carolina Panthers PSL owner and enjoyed attending games with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Michael Martin and his beloved wife Teresa Martin who he is rejoicing with in heaven.

Survivors include: sons, Walter “Marty” Martin III and wife Marla of Pittsboro, NC, Hugh Nicholas “Nick” Martin and wife Mary Catherine of Troutman, NC; daughter, Amanda Williams and husband Jeffrey of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren, Cassidy Martin, Kelsie Martin, Maggie Martin, Rose Martin, Eve Martin, Jackson Williams and Andrew Williams.

A memorial service will be conducted Friday, February 24, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Elmer Barker officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from      2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
