Grady Wood

Mr. Warren “Grady” Wood, age 76, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026 at his residence. Grady was born April 13, 1950 in Davidson County to Walter and Alice Wood.

Grady was a member of Knobbs Baptist Church and served as the Chairman of Board of Deacons. Mr. Wood was employed for 22 years with the United States Postal Service. He spent his time enjoying work and fishing.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Wood, brothers, Roy Wood and Claude Wood and a sister, Bertha Wood.

Survivors include: his son Joey Wood and wife Amy of Elkin; daughter, Julie Mitchell of Elkin; brother, Johnny Wood and wife Violet of Elkin; grandchildren, Kacie Wood, Gabriel Wood, Madison Mitchell, Briana Cox and Brittany Weatherford; great-grandchildren, Riley Wood, Easton Ashley, Cassidee Billings and Branson Dillard; nieces, Shelia Sidden and Claudia Jo Vanhoy.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Bauguess and Rev. Justin Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Knobbs Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Ebenezer Childrens Home, 1006 Byrd Ridge Road, North Wilkesboro, NC 28659.
