Wendell Boyd Wiles, age 77 of Elkin passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his residence.
Wendell was born August 7, 1947 in Surry County to Stacy and Beulah Couch Wiles.
Wendell retired from Rosenquest and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Wendell was a veteran of the US Army and served during the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his bravery and valor. Wendell was a life long musician and played in several bands through the years, beginning with Blue Denim with his brother Daryl and ended his career with Gaining Ground.
Survivors include his long-time companion, Susie Luffman; nieces, Tammy Carter and husband Nickey, Michelle Wiles; great nieces, Cortney Wood, Denise W. Carnahan and husband Michael, Jade Carter; great nephews, Brian Carter and wife Kali, Josh Carter, Chase Wood and several Great Great Nieces and Nephews.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Elkin Funeral Service.
A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Danny Dodds and Rev. John Powell officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery full military honors provided by Army National Guard Honor Guard and Yadkin County VFW Post 10346.
