William "Steve" Day

William Steven “Steve” Day, 78, of Elkin, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at his home, surrounded by his devoted family. Born on December 23, 1946, in Forsyth County, he was the son of David L. Day and Mozelle Burchette Bauguess .

Steve graduated from East Wilkes High School in 1965 and went on to study Business at Forsyth Tech. He dedicated over 25 years of service to Bendles Inc. in Elkin and later spent 20 years working at Sheldon Sales Inc. in Greensboro.

A faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Steve enjoyed nothing more than spending quality time with his wife, family, pets, and his beloved Godchildren, Jeremy Yarboro and Jammie Jolly. Those who knew him will remember his joyful spirit and the happiness he brought to every gathering.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Jim Bradley, and his sister-in-law Betty Yarboro.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Elizabeth “Libby” Day, of the home; brother-in-law, Bobby Yarboro (Mary); cousin and bonus sister, Janet Moody; nieces and nephews, David Bradley (Donna), Julie Macemore (Curtis), Terri Ward (Rick), Robin Hinson (Kevin), Jammie Y. Jolly (Mark), Jeremy Yarboro (Jessica); as well as several dear great-nieces and great-nephews whom he treasured.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, with Dr. Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., prior to the service.
